A composite filament is a mixture of two or more different polymers with two or more properties. The filament is a single polymer material, such as polyester, polyamide and so on. Therefore, the raw material of composite silk is more complex than that of filament.

On April 21, 2024, the 4-day German Industrial Textiles and nonwovens Exhibition was successfully concluded at the Frankfurt International Exhibition Center. In the vast world of textiles and sewing, where traditional materials like cotton, silk, and polyester dominate, there exists a unique and highly specialized thread that stands out for its exceptional properties: PTFE sewing thread. PTFE, short for Polytetrafluoroethylene, is a synthetic fluoropolymer known for its exceptional durability, low friction coefficient, and unparalleled resistance to chemicals, temperatures, and harsh environments. These fibers are extruded into fine strands that can be woven or twisted into thread suitable for sewing applications. The result is a thread that is incredibly strong, yet lightweight and flexible, making it ideal for use in situations where traditional threads would fail.

The structural stability of PTFE thread sewing comes from the molecular inertness of its perfluorocarbon chain. The material is formed into a continuous monofilament or multifilament structure through melt extrusion.
